I’ve fucked with this design for a couple years now, but never finished and released it cuz I was building a body of similar works alongside it. Now that it seems galleries won’t be running proper for quite some time, I’ve decided to release them as prints a month at a time. It’s available in my shop just in time for Valentine’s Day! And here’s a lil’ video I made to highlight the details…

Holy macaroni! It only took 10 years! Actually… 10 years, 1 month and 14 days. But we’re back with a vengeance. We easily got as trashed if not more than any of the ones from the previous run. Just played some random current stuff on this one. No theme. But they’ll be themed from here on out. Enjoy. Holy cow! It’s been 10yrs since that time I sat in my living room (my current art studio was occupied with music recording equipment I more or less wasn’t even using) and drank and painted a can of Old Style a night from October 29th to November 27th. I had come up with the idea prior in the year, but it wasn’t until Cheri from Revolution Gallery gave me I show that I decided it was time to actually do it. And of course, I drug my feet until the last minute. Finishing only 13 days before the show needed to be hung. Alongside the painting I even included all of the matching cans for each painting. Signed and numbered, I filled them with sand and topped them with “beer colored” crystals. Some people left the sculptural part behind. I currently use those leftovers as bookends and paper weights around the house.
But now 10yrs later, I’m finally releasing the long talked about compilation print. And I’m glad I did. The new version looks so much better than the mock-up I did about 4yrs ago (last image below). We’ll be doing a limited run of 30 (duh!) as an 18”x24” poster size print. They’ll come with some bonus stuff. Are there even 30 people that want one? That’s to be seen. A more standard 11”x14” will be available also. But at that size each can is only like 2” tall. Yawn.
They’re up for pre-order in the shop. Official release on December 11th! Same day as the actual show in 2010…
Okay. So here we are for the umpteenth time saying that this time around we are gonna do a better job of updating this website. Finally putting together a non-Etsy store right here! Check it out! We’ve got a section for originals and one for prints. We’ll be adding more and more stuff daily throughout this week. So check back. Also, if there is any image on this site that you don’t see in the shop but would like a print of just shoot me a message. I have no problem with special order prints. That’s it for now I suppose. I’ll leave you with a picture of me in my Halloween make-up even though I wasn’t about to leave the house. I hope you didn’t either. XOXO

Did some small lil' 4x6 cat portraits for an art bazaar last week. Haven't been feeling the inspiration to work on any larger substantial paintings lately. It felt good to at least create something to get into people's hands and not just doodle in my sketchbook. Gotta start doing more of that. Gotta start painting more.
Here’s some pics from last month’s show at Sideshow Gallery with Dustin Mertz and Casey Sass. I painted a series of portraits of “lesser known” comic characters. I’m looking forward to adding to the series. They went over much better than I had anticipated. Apparently there are more dorks out there who appreciate obscure superheroes from the 70s/80s than one would think. Go figure...

Two more posters for School of Rock Oak Park...
Got hit up by School of Rock St. Louis to design some last minute posters this week. One for a Rolling Stones tribute and another for a tribute to "modern funk, soul and reggae." The second one made me go, "What the fuck does that mean?" Apparently it refers to a bunch of musicians I've never listened to. Luckily cute animals work for just about anything...
And in a bizarre twist of fate, I wound up getting pulled up on stage to play D&D during a live recording of the Harmontown podcast. Went to see the documentary (which is fucking amazing by the way) and was so very excited to maybe get a simple photo op with my long time idol Dan Harmon. How I got picked from a sold out room at the Music Box theater to get onstage is beyond me. It was a very memorable moment. I, of course, was completely shitfaced. So for as awesome as it was, the video that was taken is also utterly embarrassing. Such is my life...

Did some new posters for School of Rock's Oak Park location this month. Normally most of the shows tend to be tributes to specific band's. Like these 2 I did back in December...
For this Summer's block of recitals, however, they decided to do tributes to various festival line-ups from the past and present. Including the original Lollapalooza, Ozzfest, Riot Fest and Woodstock. Here's the 2 I did. My good pal Dustin Mertz fulfilled the other 2. Looking forward to these shows. The kids always do a good job of inspiring this old dude...
So there's that. But the real highlight of this month was getting back out to Omaha and spending the final night of a short visit at the Alpine Inn. Drinking whiskey while watching raccoons chomp on fried chicken table straps?! The best! Smoking cigarettes on the side patio surrounded by a dozen stray cats?! So rad! Playing pool and listening to classic country in a bar with the most colorful floor in existence? Fucking awesome! If you ever find yourself in Omaha, do yourself a favor. Plus, Omaha is just fucking rad all around...
Oh! And maybe I should mention that I wound up running into Tommy Wiseau of "The Room" fame this week. Say what?!
We had a good time hocking our wares at Pitchfork yet again this year. I think this was maybe our 10th year doing it. But this was the first year selling art prints and not just the back stock from our now fairly defunct t-shirt company, Secret Handshake. Didn't really even bother checking out any of the music. Mainly just hung out with the other merchants and poster makers at Flatstock. And yes, a lot of booze was consumed. Possibly too much...

Also, my buddy Tuffy was in from SF, so we decided to celebrate by renting a boat. I've become obsessed with these mini-pontoons that you can rent to cruise up and down the Chicago River. We totally booked it last minute and no one was available to join. Party of 2. Joe Malone however happened to be nearby at the perfect time and scored this great shot of us from the Lake St. bridge...
Trying to get this new website running and organized and figured out. Using this Squarespace-thing that I kept hearing about on all the Earwolf podcasts. Which I'm pretty obsessed with as of late. Had been listening to "How Did This Get Made?" for a couple years now and yeah, it rules. But then I ran out of episodes. So I moved on to the "Fogelnest Files." Blew thru those! Now I'm loving "Andy Daly's Podcast Pilot Project" which is nothing but utter brilliance. Anyway, enough of me blabbing about podcasts... What I'm trying to say, is that after you've already built websites with handwritten HTML and various website software, it turns out Squarespace is rather limiting. BUT! Now that I'm settling into it, I must admit, it's gonna make doing updates and adding new pieces so much easier. 'Specially since I don't own any web design software anymore...

And I also got a tattoo of one of the pink elephants I was drawing while I had a bad flu. I was taking NyQuil® and wound up eating a pot cookie for some strange reason. Needless to say, it turned into somewhat of a lucid dream. I definitely wouldn't call it hallucinating. Just more of a dream state I was drifting in and out of. Anyway, I kept seeing these fly around and started drawing them. I named 'em NyQuilephants! And then I decided to get one as a reminder. Of what, I have no idea...
